Collins Aerospace, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business, is preparing the first shipments of its AirshowTM HD entertainment system integrated into VenueTM smart monitors, providing an all-in-one, standalone in-flight entertainment (IFE) solution for business aviation.
For the first time, business jet customers flying everything from light jets to super midsize and heavy aircraft will have access to Collins’ Airshow HD interactive moving maps, streaming entertainment and brilliant 4K resolutions in a singular hardware solution, without needing to upgrade to a full Venue cabin management system.
“Airshow HD unlocks the full potential of the Venue smart monitor, allowing business jet owners increased options to upgrade and customize their cabin entertainment systems at the pace they prefer,” said Nathan Voight, vice president and general manager of Business and Regional Avionics at Collins Aerospace. “The standalone Airshow HD and smart monitor system provides the flexibility, customization and usability aircraft owners and operators have been searching for in cabin entertainment solutions.”
The system includes the Airshow HD mobile application, with all the familiar controls, iconography and functionality from cabin monitors accessible with the touch of a finger on a smartphone or tablet. With iOS and Android downloads available imminently, app users will be able to interact with Airshow HD from their personal device or cast content to a nearby cabin monitor.
The standalone IFE system is easy to install, maintain and upgrade as new technology becomes available. The system effortlessly merges with aircraft connectivity systems, allowing passengers to seamlessly switch between entertainment, information and personal content for a home-like experience from the comfort of the cabin.
Available for a variety of aircraft sizes and configurations, the system contains options for touchscreen smart monitors and is capable of integrating with third party applications like streaming services, satellite TV or personal carry-on content.
Demonstrations of the standalone Airshow HD and smart monitor IFE solution are available this week at Collins Aerospace booth #125 at the Aircraft Electronics Association Convention & Trade Show.
