DRDO’s participation in NAVDEX and IDEX 2025 underscores India’s significant advancements in defence technology and its expanding role as a global defence supplier. At the event, DRDO showcases cutting-edge systems such as the Akash missile system, BrahMos supersonic cruise missile, Prithvi missile, Nirbhay cruise missile, and advanced UAVs like Nishant and Rustom.
“Our priorities include promoting indigenous, cost-effective systems to expand defence exports, fostering partnerships through technology transfer and joint development, and providing customized solutions for regional security challenges,” says Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO.
DRDO’s contributions have had a profound impact on India’s defence export trajectory. Over the past decade, India’s defence exports have grown by more than 30 times, with the country now supplying defence products to approximately 100 countries. These exports include ammunition, small arms, bulletproof jackets and helmets, electronic items, armoured vehicles, lightweight torpedoes, simulators, drones, and fast-attack vessels. This substantial rise in exports is primarily driven by DRDO-developed systems, as highlighted by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
