MBDA, the European leader in complex weapons systems, attending the International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) and Naval Defence & Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX), taking place from 17th to 21st February at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The company is showcasing its most advanced and new technology-based products that provide decisive military capability to protect national security and enable strategic independence.
An illustration of the importance of MBDA’s presence in the UAE and the cooperation with its partner, the Tawazun Council, is the Missile Engineering Centre (MEC). Inaugurated in 2023, it is the first of its kind outside Europe for MBDA. The MEC has strengthened the long-term partnership between the UAE and MBDA, establishing a bedrock to develop the next generation of smart weapons. It is leveraging and reinforcing the sovereign capabilities of the UAE defence industry through significant local content.
Leveraging such innovation through cooperation is in MBDA’s DNA, and at the IDEX and NAVDEX exhibitions, the company is presenting many of its high performing products that demonstrate MBDA is a constantly reliable partner for any customer for providing them with unrivalled operational capabilities.
IDEX (stand located in Hall 07 at A07)
On display at MBDA’s IDEX booth are the Smart Cruiser and Smart Glider. They form a family of compact and intelligent air-to-ground effectors with AI-enabled capabilities permitting collaborative and swarming engagement. Both are slated for development in cooperation with Tawazun Council and local defence industry.
For battlefield missions, MBDA showcases the innovative diamond-shaped loitering munition. Designed for precision strikes on critical targets, it will meet growing international demand. Also in display are anti-tank and precision strike capabilities provided by the Akeron family, Brimstone and Enforcer.
Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD) solutions are also highlighted at IDEX by MBDA:
The new SAMP/T NG by EUROSAM (Franco-Italian joint-venture created between MBDA France, MBDA Italia and Thales) with the introduction of a new generation engagement module (ME-NG). The ME-NG will enable the integration and coordination of different radars and weapon systems allowing a fully scalable SAMP/T NG configuration, capable to implement a multi-range/multi-layer air defence.
CAMM-ER, the extended-range version of the new generation CAMM family of air defence missiles jointly developed by the United Kingdom and Italy. CAMM-ER is equipped with a state-of-the-art active RF seeker, a “cold launch” system (Soft Vertical Launch) and an aerodynamic profile featuring a larger motor to provide an extended range.
Both missiles are showcased together with Mistral 3 and Aster B1 NT, air defence solutions covering from very short to medium and long ranges.
