Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse and ISAE-SUPAERO have signed the contract for the joint industrial chair called CASTOR. Its purpose is to develop and optimize methods as well as tools for the design of turbomachinery wheels with improved aerodynamics and thus to contribute to the research for more efficient aircraft of the future.
The signing ceremony took place on 9th July on ISAE-SUPAERO’s campus together with representatives from the institute and Liebherr-Aerospace. Among them: Olivier Lesbre, General Director of ISAE-SUPAERO, and Dr. Nathalie Duquesne, Managing Director of Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse SAS. The chair will run for four years and is expected to lead to three doctoral theses, two post-doctorates, and the creation of a research engineer position.
This initiative, which is co-financed by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR), aims to promote collaboration between public and private research stakeholders. A total of €1.25 million (50% from Liebherr-Aerospace Toulouse and 50% from ANR) will be used to finance equipment and subcontract work.
This collaboration will enable Liebherr to continue offering key technologies and solutions for the decarbonization of aviation, with more efficient air conditioning systems that consume as little energy as possible.
