Arun Ramchandani has taken over as Executive Vice President & Head – L&T Defence IC. Prior to this, he was heading Defence & Aerospace, SBG.
Arun Ramchandani has joined L&T as a Graduate Engineer in 1984 after completing his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Delhi. While working at L&T, he has received specialized management training through programs in Technology Management, Global Leadership & Advanced Management from ASCI, Manchester Business School, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and Insead, France. He started his career in R&D at L&T and went on to head the R&D for L&T Defence.
He has worked extensively on the design & development of critical equipment and new products for the Defence & Aerospace Business Segment, with specific expertise in systems engineering & multi-disciplinary systems design & simulations.
Ramchandani is a recognized technology professional & defence industry specialist. He is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and Fellow of the Indian Society of Systems for Science and Engineering (ISSE) besides being Member of the Society for Aerospace Quality and Reliability, India; the Fluid Power Society of India; Fuel Cell Society of India; Optical Society of India and Plasma Science Society of India. He is currently the Chairman of the FICCI Defence & Aerospace Committee and Member of Technology Advisory Group to the Empowered Technology Group chaired by the Principle Scientific Advisor to the Government of India.
He emphasizes on partnership, collaboration, and co-production to achieve Aatmanirbharata in Defence Manufacturing. Under his guidance, L&T achieved over 80% indigenization by Work Package Count in K9 Vajra-T program. He focuses on Automation & Industry 4.0 and Digital Manufacturing.
